Today is a big day! Today I turn 17, and my epilepsy diagnosis turns 10. So much has happened recently, and I can't believe how far I've come. It's unbelievable that I'm already 17; why am I so old?? It feels like just yesterday, I was turning 16 and being all grumpy about not being able to

drive. Bouncing off of that: Guess what!! On Wednesday, I got my learner's permit! I'm officially a driver (with supervision). This was a HUGE step for me, and my whole experience was a fun story. I've been scared of DMVs since my first incident when the worker made me cry after telling a 15-year-old me that I couldn't get my license. I was hoping for a smooth experience, but that's impossible for

me. Apparently, my written exam expired, and I had to retake it without studying! I barely passed, but I pulled it off. Driving has been so exciting, and it makes me feel independent.

Another thing I mentioned earlier is that my epilepsy diagnosis is officially ten years old today. I didn't know till a little while ago that me and my epilepsy shared a birthday. Thinking that it's been 10

years is hard to imagine; I honestly feel like it's been my whole life. My journey has been filled with ups and downs. Another celebration: I'm six months seizure free for the first time in my life! Just this single day shows how much in life we have to celebrate. I'm so happy with how far I've

come, and I like to think that 17 will be my best year yet! I'm excited to have an unforgettable

summer and an awesome senior year! If I make it past my crazy junior year finals ;)
