Stories behind Milo&Me: Ali (aka Miss Dallas Teen)
Meet Ali & learn her story
GETTING TO KNOW US!
Hey y’all! I’m Alison (aka Miss Dallas Teen!) I am freshly eighteen, and I was diagnosed with epilepsy about a year and a half ago.
I was misdiagnosed for over sixteen years. I have focal, absence, and tonic seizures, and my doctors misread them as panic attacks. I was treated for anxiety my whole life until a psychiatrist saw me have a seizure while sitting in her office.
I now have a service dog in training who is able to alert me of oncoming seizures, and warn me of things that may trigger a seizure (ie, low blood sugar and stress).
Although my seizures are not quite under control, having Brady has given me freedom in life and he has helped me through many journeys.
I came across Milo and Me after I won the Miss Dallas USA pageant in October and Sophia reached out after seeing a post about it. I can confidently say that, because of this amazing group of girls, I am more confident and I am less afraid to speak up about my diagnosis. They have become my family and I couldn’t be more thankful for each and every one of them.
